Joe Thomas

NFL Hall of Famer

Joe Thomas is one of the most accomplished offensive tackles in football history. A standout at the University of Wisconsin, he was a unanimous All-American and two-time All-Big Ten selection before being drafted 3rd overall by the Cleveland Browns in 2007.

Thomas made an immediate impact in the NFL, earning PFWA All-Rookie honors and the first of 10 straight Pro Bowl selections—a feat matched by only four other players in league history and unmatched by any other offensive lineman. Over his 11-year career, he was named First-Team All-Pro six times, Second-Team All-Pro twice, and was selected to the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 2010s.

Known as the NFL’s “Ironman,” Thomas played 10,363 consecutive snaps, believed to be an NFL record. He started all 167 games of his career without missing a single offensive snap until his season-ending injury in 2017. His durability, technique, and leadership left an indelible mark on the Browns, who added his snap streak to their Ring of Honor in 2018 and inducted him into the Browns Legends program in 2022.

Today, Joe brings his elite experience and passion for line play to Trench Training, helping develop the next generation of dominant offensive and defensive linemen.

Coach Stark

Steve Stark is a former Wisconsin Badger football team captain and member of the 1994 Rose Bowl Championship Team. During college, Steve played offensive guard and was also a long snapper. After that, he was a free agent with the NY Jets. He has over 25 years of coaching experience.

Coach Derby

Glenn Derby was a starting offensive lineman for the Wisconsin Badgers and was named “All Conference” before moving onto the New Orleans Saints where he played professionally for 3 years and with the Green Bay Packers for 1 year. Glenn was also a long-snapper at both the college and professional levels. He has over 25 years of coaching experience.

Coach Nellis

Growing up in Madison, WI, Joel Nellis went on to play for his hometown team, the Wisconsin Badgers, where he played tight end and was on special teams. During college, Joel was named “Academic All Big Ten”. Prior to that, he won “All City”, “All Conference”, and “2nd Team All Area” at Madison Memorial HS. Today, Joel is the Head Coach at Brookfield Central High School in WI.
