WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE TRENCH TRAINING PLAY BIG CAMP?

The 2018 Trench Training Play BIG Camp will offer a unique, elite level experience for the athletes. Our goals for this camp are clear...

  • Learn from the best! Special guest speaker, Kevin Zeitler – Cleveland Browns
  • Offer elite instruction for offensive and defensive linemen.
  • Teach fundamentals and techniques that aid in the development of players in any offensive and defensive system.
  • Provide athletes with video evaluations and recommendations to continue the player's development beyond our day at camp.

During camp, all athletes will participate in an instructional film study followed by 5 hours of on-field drill work. Athletes will be filmed as they perform key drills that will be evaluated by Trench Training coaches. Following camp, each athlete will be sent a link to a personalized webpage on TrenchTraining.com with video evaluations and developmental recommendations from our respected staff of former College and NFL players.

WHAT PARENTS AND PLAYERS ARE SAYING ABOUT TRENCH TRAINING

MEET OUR STAFF

Coach Derby

Glenn Derby was a starting offensive lineman for the Wisconsin Badgers and was named “All Conference” before moving onto the New Orleans Saints where he played professionally for 3 years and ended his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers.  For the past 25 years, Glenn has coached at the high school and college levels, and takes pride in helping young players improve their skills, stance and technique while becoming successful athletes both on and off the field.

Coach Hayden

As a standout defensive tackle for the Wisconsin Badgers, Nick Hayden received “Honorable Mention” in ‘05 and ‘08.  Later in 2008, he was drafted in the 6th round by the Carolina Panthers.  During his 9-year NFL career, Nick played for the Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, and the Cleveland Browns.  While in Dallas as a starter, he led the team’s defensive line with the most tackles for 2 consecutive seasons.  In total, Nick started 63 games during his professional career.  In his earlier days, Nick attended Arrowhead High School in Hartland, Wisconsin, where he was twice named “Player of the Year”.

Michael Deiter

As one of the most versatile offensive linemen ever to play for the Badgers, Michael Deiter has started in more than 40 games so far in his standout career…and at 3 different positions. Deiter has had 16 starts at center, 14 starts at left tackle and 11 at left guard. In 2017, he earned Second-team All-American Honors (Sporting News) and was a consensus first-team All-Big Ten offensive lineman. One year earlier in 2016, he was named All-Big Ten honorable mention (consensus) and after his 2015 season, Deiter was named All-Big Ten honorable mention (media) as well as Big Ten All-Freshman (ESPN). Michael’s achievements are notable in the classroom, too, as a three-year honor roll student majoring in Retailing and Consumer Behavior.

Coach Nellis

Growing up in Madison, Wisconsin, Joel Nellis went on to play for his hometown team, the Wisconsin Badgers, where he played tight end and was on special teams.  During his college career, Joel was also named “Academic All Big Ten”. Prior to that, he was awarded “All City”, “All Conference”, and “2nd Team All Area” at Madison Memorial HS.  Today, Joel is the Offensive Line Coach at Brookfield Central HS in Brookfield, Wisconsin. For the past 7 years, he has coached All-State offensive lineman and, consecutively, has had athletes move on to the college football level.

Coach Gilbert

Bryce Gilbert attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he played defensive tackle for 4 years with the Badgers. He was a member of 3 consecutive Big Ten championship teams. Prior to college, Gilbert was an All-State defensive tackle, All-Area, and 2-time All Conference player. As a current Trench Training coach, Gilbert trains for the betterment of this great sport throughout southeastern Wisconsin. In his free time, Gilbert also coaches wrestling, and track and field.

Coach Bott

Along with earning a Master’s Degree from the University of ND, Brian Bott has been a Certified Strength and Conditioning coach for more than 20 years working with a variety of athletes from different sports. Many of the athletes he’s trained have gone on to play at the college and professional levels. Bott spent 13 years with the University of Wisconsin resulting in 12 bowl game appearances, including the Rose Bowl and 3 Big Ten championships. From 2010-2012, Bott was in charge of all aspects of physical development for the Badger’s offensive line – a program called “O-Line U”. During those years, 12 of the players he trained were selected into the NFL or as free agents. In total, more than 80 players made it into the NFL during his 13 years with the Badgers. Bott’s training style is very simple: work hard, be a good person, compete, and good things will happen.
